Plants of the Western Carpathians — an interactive map
What we found on foot along the Czech–Polish–Slovak borderlands, and a place for you to add what you find.
What is this page?
This is a public, interactive map of plants recorded during a hiking camp in the Western Carpathians — protected and notable species, invasive plants, and common medicinal herbs. We made it to document real fieldwork, to raise awareness of protected and invasive species in this border region, and to let hikers, locals and other youth groups add their own sightings long after the camp ended.
About the camp
Sport Develops the Mind is an Erasmus+ Sport project run by Fundacja Antares (Poland), OTI Slovakia and Euroteam Czech Republic. Its astronomical hiking camp (21–29 July 2026) combined astronomy, hiking, culture and ecology. Plants were identified on the trail with the PlantNet app, and botany became part of the daily programme — from a tree-recognition game to a quiz on how a guelder-rose flower really works.
